Scam training & phishing testing in Adelaide

Scams are getting smarter — AI-generated emails, fake invoices that look perfect and phone calls that sound legitimate. Your team is your last line of defence, and most haven't been trained to spot the difference. We run realistic phishing simulations and practical scam awareness training so your people know what to look for before they click, pay or hand over information.

What is scam training and testing?

Scam training teaches your team to recognise and respond to phishing emails, fake invoices, social engineering calls and other scams that target businesses every day. Phishing testing goes a step further — we send realistic simulated scam emails to your staff and measure who clicks, who reports and who needs more help. Together, training and testing build a team that's alert and confident, not paranoid and confused. It's the most practical thing you can do to reduce your cyber risk.

What we cover

Phishing simulations

Realistic fake phishing emails sent to your team — tailored to your industry and mimicking the tactics scammers actually use today.

Scam awareness training

Practical sessions covering email scams, invoice fraud, social engineering, QR code phishing and AI-generated threats.

Results & reporting

Clear reports showing who clicked, who reported and where your team's weak spots are — with trends over time.

Targeted follow-up

Extra coaching for staff who fall for simulations, delivered supportively — the goal is learning, not blame.

CEO and invoice fraud

Training on business email compromise — fake requests from the boss, dodgy supplier invoices and payment redirection scams.

Ongoing campaigns

Regular testing throughout the year so awareness stays sharp, not a one-off session that fades in a month.

Who it's for

  • Businesses that handle payments, invoices or sensitive data and can't afford a staff member falling for a scam.
  • Organisations that need to demonstrate security awareness training for compliance or client requirements.
  • Teams that haven't had scam training before and don't know what a modern phishing email looks like.
  • Any Adelaide business that wants to test how their team would actually respond to a real attack.

How it works

  1. Baseline test. We run a simulated phishing campaign before any training, so you know where your team starts.
  2. Training sessions. Practical, engaging sessions covering the scams your business is most likely to face — not generic scare tactics.
  3. Ongoing simulations. Regular phishing tests throughout the year, varying in difficulty and type to keep your team on their toes.
  4. Reporting. You get clear dashboards showing click rates, report rates and improvement over time.
  5. Continuous improvement. We adjust training focus based on results — if invoice fraud is the weak spot, we drill into that.

Why WaTo for scam training

  • We tailor simulations to your business — not generic templates that your team sees through instantly.
  • Training is supportive, not punitive — we build awareness, not anxiety.
  • Adelaide owned since 2001 — we understand local business and the scams targeting Australian organisations.
  • Combined with our managed security services for a complete cyber defence picture.
  • Ongoing campaigns, not a one-off tick-box — because scammers don't stop after one attempt.

Scam training questions

Will my staff know they're being tested?

That's the point — they shouldn't. Simulations are designed to look like real scam emails so you get a true picture of how your team responds. We debrief afterwards so everyone learns.

What happens if someone fails a phishing test?

They get a short, friendly learning moment explaining what they missed and what to look for next time. No public shaming, no punishment — just practical coaching.

How often should we test?

We recommend monthly or quarterly simulations to keep awareness consistent. A single annual session wears off quickly — regular testing keeps it front of mind.

Does this cover phone scams too?

Our training sessions cover phone-based social engineering, vishing and callback scams. Simulated phone attacks can be arranged for organisations that want to go further.

Ready to test your team's scam awareness?

Let us run a baseline phishing test and show you where your team stands — before a real scammer does.

No two businesses are the same — so nothing we do is off-the-shelf. Every solution is built around yours, and kept simple.

Our story

Built in Adelaide, since 2001

WaTo Consulting was founded by John Watson in Adelaide in 2001. Over two decades it's earned a name for tailored work across a wide range of industries — helping businesses of every size run more smoothly, work more efficiently and grow steadily, without blowing the budget or disrupting the day-to-day.

Emma Watson (née Dickenson) played a significant part in shaping what WaTo became. She brought real expertise and a clear vision for where it could go — expanding the business, bringing in new systems and fresh thinking, and raising the standard of how things are done. A great deal of what WaTo is, we owe to her.

Today it's all tailored, never off-the-shelf — IT & Digital, Business & Web Hosting, built around what each client actually needs. Over the years those areas have come together under one roof: our IT & Digital, Currency, Business and Web work (through Whosts.au) now all sit within WaTo Consulting — one team, one standard, looking after the lot.

When you work with us, you're not a client — you're a partner.
