Hardware integration projects in Adelaide
WaTo connects physical hardware (barcode scanners, EFTPOS terminals, receipt printers, label printers, scales, card readers and other peripherals) to the software and systems that run your business. These aren't always plug-and-play jobs. When a device needs drivers, middleware, API configuration or network setup to talk to your POS, ERP or inventory system, that's where we come in. Adelaide-based, hands-on, one-off project builds.

What is a hardware integration project?
A hardware integration project takes a physical device, such as a scanner, terminal, printer, scale or sensor, and connects it to your business software so data flows between them automatically. It might be connecting a barcode scanner to your inventory system, wiring an EFTPOS terminal to your POS, or getting a label printer to pull product data from your database. The goal is hardware and software working together without manual double-handling.
What we deliver
Barcode scanner integration
Handheld, countertop or fixed scanners connected to your POS, inventory or warehouse system, scanning straight into the right fields with no manual entry.
EFTPOS and payment terminal setup
Payment terminals connected and integrated with your POS so transactions reconcile automatically, without re-keying amounts or matching receipts by hand.
Printer and label connections
Receipt printers, label printers and thermal printers connected to your software, printing the right content in the right format from the right trigger.
Scale and measurement devices
Weighing scales and measurement tools connected to POS or inventory systems, with weights captured automatically for pricing, compliance or stock tracking.
Middleware and driver configuration
When devices don't natively talk to your software, we configure middleware, drivers or API bridges to make the connection work reliably.
Testing and validation
Every integration tested end to end with real data and real transactions. We verify the full workflow rather than stopping at a connection check.
Who it's for
- Retail businesses connecting scanners, scales, printers and payment terminals to a new or existing POS system.
- Warehouses and logistics operations integrating barcode or RFID scanning with inventory and dispatch software.
- Hospitality venues needing kitchen printers, order displays or payment terminals wired into their service workflow.
- Any business buying new hardware and needing it properly connected to existing software, rather than just plugged in and hoped for the best.
How it works
- We document what needs connecting. A review of your hardware and software: what devices you have or are buying, what systems they need to talk to, and what data needs to flow between them.
- We check compatibility. Not every device works with every system out of the box. We verify compatibility, identify any driver or middleware requirements, and flag issues before you buy.
- We configure and connect. Drivers installed, APIs configured, network connections established and middleware set up where needed, with each device connected to the right system.
- We test with real workflows. Every integration tested with actual transactions, scans, prints or readings. A connection indicator isn't enough, so we run a proper end-to-end test of your daily workflow.
- We hand over and document. Your team gets a walkthrough of how each device works, what to do if something disconnects, and documentation of the setup for future reference.
Why WaTo for hardware integrations
- We handle the tricky bit, which is the connection between hardware and software, as well as the device setup itself.
- We've integrated hardware with POS systems, ERPs, inventory platforms and custom software across dozens of industries.
- We test every integration with real data and real workflows, not just a quick connection check.
- Adelaide-based with on-site installation for local businesses and remote configuration for interstate clients.
- We've been doing hands-on hardware and IT projects for small businesses since 2001.
Hardware integration questions
Can you integrate hardware we've already purchased?
In most cases, yes. We'll check that your device is compatible with your software and has the right connection options. If it's a good fit, we'll get it connected. If not, we'll tell you before wasting time on it.
What if our software doesn't natively support the device?
That's often the whole point of the project. We can configure middleware, write scripts or use API bridges to connect devices that don't have built-in integration with your software.
Do you supply the hardware as well?
We can. If you need us to source scanners, printers, terminals or other peripherals, we'll recommend proven models that are compatible with your system and include them in the project.
How long does a typical integration project take?
Simple connections, like a scanner to a POS, can be done in a single visit. More complex integrations involving middleware, APIs or multiple devices typically take one to two weeks from scoping to go-live.
