The bump under the pad is normal: it's there for the 5c and 50c to flick them up. It isn't a fault.

Try this first: If the printer isn't feeding, turn the machine off and back on to reset it: it stops after several failed attempts. If it still won't feed, try putting the paper roll in the other way round.
